Ugandans and friends of Uganda
As the world goes into these festivities, where every family sits down to enjoy
all the best dishes and opening the last Vintage wine bottles, the
communication group has made a decision not to join those festivities in
recognition for the suffering of the people in Northern and Eastern Uganda. We
simply do not see it right to sit and enjoy all that we can access when we have
more than two million Ugandans held in a situation that Uganda government has
refused for the last twenty years to resolve. Let me go on record that Uganda
government does not have any single highest responsibility as to make sure that
its people are safe and that includes the entire population of North and
Eastern Uganda.
In my entire communication to you since I started to log into these forums, I
have not made any matter of great importance than our people that are stuck
into camps. On record Ugandans have been abandoned and they have a very good
chance to stay in these camps for they are out there up country and not in
Buganda. A very good example of their being neglected is when the British
government decided out of its clear mind to carry out a general conference in
Kampala, a Conference that even the Queen her self proudly attended. And let
record show that in all conferences that were attended there was no single time
a word Northern and Eastern or being camped up was mentioned. The entire Region
was simply sealed off as the conference took place in Kampala.
I was even ashamed to see my own Prime Minister included into those that
attended.
So by this posting, the group with all its affiliates will cease to take any
part in this celebration, we will not wish a merry Christmas to any one, we
will not stand a Christmas tree into any of our facilities or homes, we will
not do the Dinner, but we will take this time to reflect some very serious
questions to our selves. For example, why did this common wealth take place in
Uganda yet it would have not taken place in Zimbabwe a nation with no single
person camped? What is the difference between Ugandans and Zimbabweans? What is
it that I my self as Edward have failed to do to make the case of Northern and
Eastern Uganda of great paramount as it so surely should have been? How will
history judge us when we have allowed children born into refugee camps begging
to have babies when they are still in camps? But most importantly, if the
population of North and Eastern Uganda have been refused to live their normal
lives, and now we are entering a second generation, how will Uganda as a state
and Great Lakes as region, put them back into a productive society when this
government leaves power?
Again I recap, it is the responsibility of Uganda Government to make sure that
every man woman and child in North and Eastern Uganda have right to go home.
There is no single village, parish, road or location in the entire Uganda today
that has a war. There is no single location that any one cannot go because
there is a war, so the fundamental question becomes why are these people camped
up and fade as birds in caves? They are being raped from age eight. Husbands
have been raped by Uganda People Defense forces in front of their children
women and friends. Northern and Eastern Uganda has the largest number of
suicides in the entire Nation. What is the short and long term effects to these
people? But most importantly the British Government not only supports this
government, but the former British foreign secretary owns and works in a
company in Uganda as we speak. When you sit on that dinning table to eat your
Christmas dinner wonder about that eight year old that has been raped today by
the government forces in Uganda.
The Communication Group will not put its self into asking its self whether it
should eat that steak. No we will not.
