Culpable homicide is similar to manslaughter in Canada. The sentence is at
the judge's discretion, and in South Africa it can range from a suspended
sentence and a fine to up to 15 years in prison. But let us remember that he
has two conviction both of which have a maximum of 15 years.

Just out of South Africa, Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable
homicide in the murder of Reeva Steenkamp (his girlfriend) in February 2013.
The judge did render her verdict on 3 other lesser gun charges: Pistorius
was found 'not guilty' of discharging his firearm through a sunroof in
January of 2013, Pistorius was found 'guilty' of negligently handling a
firearm in restaurant. Pistorius was found 'not guilty' of illegally owning
ammunition. I will be very surprised if he is not walking into jail.
This is a very developing story.
