1. Check alsamixer for things which may have been muted unwittingly.
2. Upgrade your ALSA drivers - there's a third party repo that's got
them (DAG or AT, I think).
3. Read the ALSA docs, where, so I recall, they mention that the front
panel breakout box that comes with the Platinum variant cards is totally
unsupported. It requires a firmware upload of some sort, I believe.
There's been people who've gotten further on this subject IIRC, but it
definitely involved some hackery.
4. Try disabling SMP.
