By trigger, so you mean that it doesn't take an analog signal, and that it takes a digital signal at a specific frequency? If so, you're better off using the parallel port, although you'll still need the op amp (and that op amp circuit is even more trivial). (Actually, there are a few ways other than an op amp, but it's probably the best way to do it)
