After further reading, if you are using Outlook then it looks like
Outlook Express needs to be used first in order to convert the .pst
files into a readable format.

Which version of MS Outlook (2000, XP, 2003?) are you using, or is it
Outlook Express?  What are the 'other files' are you concerned with
transferring to Linux?

Have you decided on a distribution?  I'm sure we would be glad to start
a 'Which distro is best' debate for you if you haven't.  :)
