neat ways of using rsync with hard links allow you to make timed
backups.

E.g. dirvish:
        http://edseek.com/~jasonb/articles/dirvish_backup/
which i found a pain to setup (in fact, still haven't).
I've been using flyback lately, 
        http://code.google.com/p/flyback/
based on the ideas behind mac's new backup scheme. Would
be fun to discuss these, but I found there's flaws in all
of these. You just have to pick something that suits you
best.
