on my Fedora Core 7 (my daily linux box) there is a vpn installed,
i noted the following packages:

  NetworkManager-vpnc-0.6.4-3.fc7
  vpnc-0.4.0-2.fc7
  openvpn-2.1-0.19.rc4.fc7
  NetworkManager-openvpn-0.3.2-7.fc6

and the networking applet is easy to configure. The vpn/cicso passwords
are online even (some email on this on the mailing list a while back)
  http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg01716.html
and I get it to work just fine.

But with one BIG exception: any shell (xterm) into our campus machines
results into a hung xterm whenever there appears to be too much output.
E.g.
        ls | wc
or
        ls | head
works,
but commands like ls, mutt, w, ps , they all fail. Have to close (~.) the
connection and start over. Basicallly useless. Anybody have a clue what's going
on here.
Other clients fare better?
Could of course also be something on my own, or the astr.dept. end. Doesn't have
to be vpn. Or could verizon mess it up.. That's easy to find out, try vpn from
campus itself.
