Hey guys, Thanks for the help. It turned out that the module in question was forcedeth - apparently this is actually a known issue for the module. In the end lspci wound up getting me the necessary info.
00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: nVidia Corporation MCP79 Ethernet (rev b1) A quick search for "powertop mcp79" turned up forcedeth as the culprit =). According to gnome power manager unloading it has added about 20 mins to my battery life... and thats without going through a charge/discharge cycle. Not bad. -Ed
