I'm thrilled with your excitement about python and umit.
Network Scanner is our oldest project, and it really needs someone to
conduct a major overhaul, integrate other projects we have into it and make
a stable release during this Summer. We have a lot of new features
integrated or to be integrated there, and we just couldn't manage to
deliver a release yet. So I believe that the best way to begin summer would
be to spend the bonding period fixing last few things to make a release so
you get to know the code better and then start doing some real improvements
to it during summer.
If you have more specific questions about it, ask away! :)
