I completely agree. Casing of letters (in general, I mean) was a horrible mistake and is way more trouble than it’s worth. Too late to fix it, and given how entrenched it is it did kind of have to be encoded, but it’s such a bad idea. And then other alphabets see it and think “hey, we need capitals too!” and you get capitals for all the IPA extensions and Cherokee and so on... Ugh.
