Sorry to bother the group with this one!

I just got a new computer and I am thinking about a linux install. I have seen several discussions on Debian and Gentoo from the group. Are there any advantages or disadvantages between the two (Unicon Related, Just Programming In General)? What about Fedora?

Right now I am leaning towards Gentoo, maybe its a New Mexico thing or there cool logos (hah)!

Machine Info:
CPU: Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (with HT blah blah blah)
GPU: ATI Radeon X300 SE 128mb
  RAM: 512mb
   HD: 80gb

Thanks, Nolan Clayton

Hi Nolan,
The subject is a bit OT but what the hell... I confess to being a Debian fanatic. I've installed it on 5 machines now and it gets easier each time. I rejected Mandrake because all the while I was installing it, it kept telling me how much better it would be if I bought this or that from them. Put me right off them. Apparently Suse doesn't come with any servers (I am told this but can't vouch for it). Debian has a now undeserved reputation for being difficult. I find it easier than Mandrake. But I'm sure every linux user on this list will have their own set of perfectly valid reasons for preferring the distro that they use.
Good luck,
Jonathan
