I was reading through the IPDs on this at the weekend because I'm
interested in getting a working threading library up and running for my
current project. And, well I'm slightly confused. I get that various
events are triggered and by the MTIcon runtime and that these can be
monitored, but I'm unclear as to whether or not multiple events can be
generated per VM instruction, and of course there's little illustration
of the likely performance hit. I want to effectively use pre-emptive
(but possibly deterministic) scheduling to manage a group of threads so
that I can have socket handling code running in a separate thread from
several other tasks, and was wondering if anyone has any experience of
doing anything similar.
