Not in my property, where cats and squirrels seem to live in perfect harmony. One afternoon, I saw 6 cats at once in my backyard, with the standard bunch of squirrels running all around. Any suggestions to get rid of cats that use my flower beds as their private litter box? Not only am I tired of scooping cat excretions out of my flower beds but I am extremely allergic to them and would want them as far away from me as possible.
I have tried red pepper but I am willing to hear other suggestions as well.
The cats know you don't like animals and therefore your yard is a place where they won't be bothered.
Short of a dog which will actually chase them (most dogs don't, but that's a separate topic) you don't have many options.
Your yard is a "safe house."
You have nice well cultivated flower beds -- not hard clay or concrete. Bet those flower beds are nice and cool in the heat also.
Remember the marks the hobos used to put on people's gate posts? Cats do the same thing.
There are a couple of feral cat rescue operations around who might be willing to come in and try to trap them.... but that may or may not accomplish anything beyond the short term.
