Hello all

Used coffee grounds, like from drip coffee, work when sprinkled around the plants on the flower beds. They need to be replaced every few days or so. I started just puting the whole coffee filter with the grounds on top of the beds, then would trow them away and put new ones.

When I got tired of doing that, I went to Jackson's hardware and got some chicken wire. I covered my flower boxes with that and haven't had any more problems. The flowers grow thru very easily and the cats stay off because they can't scratch up the dirt. I cut holes in the center of the wire to plant the plants and fold the wire back up around the plants. Works fine.

Not in my property, where cats and squirrels seem to live in perfect harmony. One afternoon, I saw 6 cats at once in my backyard, with the standard bunch of squirrels running all around. Any suggestions to get rid of cats that use my flower beds as their private litter box? Not only am I tired of scooping cat excretions out of my flower beds but I am extremely allergic to them and would want them as far away from me as possible.
I have tried red pepper but I am willing to hear other suggestions as well.

B. Out door cats. Since they have shown up in the neighborhood the
squirrel populations has really gone down.
