We are looking for recommendations for a vet for our dog. The only times I
have ever used the Vet School is for emergency situations. Do they have an
"outpatient" clinic? If so, how is their "customer service"?

They do, but it seems more for specialty things than routine care, and priced accordingly. Or that was my impression, I've only used their emergency service.

We used Littlejohn and were very happy with him (O'Neil Animal
Hospital, 45th and Market, (215) 386-3293).

I have to say that I had the WORST customer service at the O'Neil Clinic. I had made a 9am saturday appointment (the first one of the day) for a routine shot and when I got there 15 minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork, there was a couple picking up their cat which had been boarded. Turned in the paperwork to the uninterested receptionist and proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. Then a large Rotty arrived (with owner) in the tiny waiting room and I had to retreat to the front porch with my excitable mutt. Waited some more and finally at 9:30 I went back inside to tell them to cancel my appt. At this point I was shown into an examination room. The couple with the cat were still there--they had decided that since they were there, they should have the cat get its shots. So, I'm in one waiting room, and the couple and their cat are in the adjoining one. The vet (I have no idea what his name was, since he never introduced himself to me) walks thru my room, and into the other one and proceeds to wait on the couple with the cat! No much as a Howdy-Do and I'll be with you in a minute. I'd had it by this time and just walked out. 4 years later and it still pisses me off.

Where's my vet? Down in Newark Delaware, where she's always been. After that crappy experience at O'Neil's, I decided that the drive was well worth the personal attention I still got with her.
