The Baltimore/Woodland/University Avenues intersection re-configuration project has begun. On Monday 1/19/04 after the morning rush hour, the two lanes that run parallel to the front of the VA Hospital will be closed for approx. 2 months. During this period ALL east-bound traffic will be diverted to Woodland Ave. which will have two open lanes. The left lane MUST turn left (N/B on to University Ave.) The right lane MUST turn right (S/B on to University Ave.) During the morning rush hour traffic a UPPD Police Officer will be on site for traffic control. The City of Phila. traffic engineers along with University Police have re-designed the traffic control devices. The changes will go into effect on 1/19. Included in this design will be a RIGHT TURN signal for motorist turning right off of Woodland Ave on to S/B University Ave. As the project progresses you will be updated. Delays should be expected, please avoid this area if possible. Please visit http://www.facilities.upenn.edu/whatsNew/construction/38th.php3 for a description of the construction project including street maps etc. Sergeant Joseph D.
