I am currently out of town, but I will be returning on
October 17th and am looking to make a transition as
soon as conveniently possible thereafter:
I am looking for a position as a housesitter or
companion (at a minimum, to eliminate rent as an
expense). I have three years experience in home
health care prior to moving to Philadelphia 7 & 1/2
years ago, including a year in California as a live-in
personal care aid. I have also done some part-time
companion work in the last year. During the last four
years, I have served as de facto house manager for
about five other people sharing my rental situation on
the 4700 block of Baltimore Avenue. My primary
money-maker is massage: I work in a chiropractor's
office in Narberth 2 days a week (typically 3-7 on
Tuesday and 1-4:30 on Friday); I see 1 or 2 outcalls
on Monday afternoon, and I average 1-3 private massage
clients per week at my residence, usually for an hour
at a time. I also work as an usher on an
as-needed/as-available basis, usually in the evenings:
all of which is to say that my schedule is reasonably
open/flexible, although I am not available 24/7. I
enjoy cooking, and prefer to maintain a reasonably
clean and well-ordered environment. I also songwrite
as a hobby, and would enjoy the chance to garden. I
would prefer to remain in West Philadelphia, ideally
fairly close to my current neighborhood of 48th and
Baltimore. I am however looking into possibilities in
the suburbs, since one of my reasons for seeking a
position such as this is to improve my financial
situation enough so that I will be able to put a down
payment on a house within the next five years. I will
accordingly be looking to make the best decision
among the options available. I have told my current
