online newspaper polls. for one thing, they can only tell us
how many different COMPUTERS are voting, not how many
different PEOPLE. these types of polls simply aren't useful,
and most web users regard them as "filler" amusements -- the
equivalent of print newspaper connect-the-dot or word
scramble games.]
