It's a good idea. Letters should also be placed on the electronic site of the
DP, following the letter. They publish few letters in print but lots of
residents can respond on line.

Thanks for posting this, Al.
This is extremely irresponsible of the DP. Those disclaimers about a
non-scientific poll don't excuse this type of garbage. For one thing, it is
very divisive to put uninformed students reading the DP against the
overwhelming wishes of the Philadelphia community. How would students know
about the contemptuous process behind the universities conduct?
Poll: Due to student crime and cheating. Do West Philadelphians believe
all Penn students should be required to wear ankle bracelets?
Poll Do Americans believe that all world governments should be
controlled by President Bush? (I wonder how the people of Paris would respond
to such a UC District poll?)
This is like USING respondents who were largely Drexel freshmen and the
data to decide what should be done at 50th and Baltimore.
It's not simply useless and offensive. Polls like these are dangerous in
the hands of__________!

The DP has a quickie poll on its front page today -- which should be
"up" all weekend. Go to http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/ -- and you'll find
the poll on the front page.
It's not really meaningful, but it's another link in the chain.
If only Penn students vote, we can assume that many will be from the
population who thinks it's dangerous to go west of 40th Street and who aren't
mature enough to understand that the people in the Real Estate Dept at Penn are
not the research and teaching stars who make the school a world-class
university. So the results will reflect a bias not representative of the
community. And anyone who would be so unashamed of themselves as to use that
Smart Growth Men's Chorus award as an endorsement would hold up the DP's poll
as well.
So -- take a second to click on the button reflecting your opinion of
the project.
