Neighbors, I read Mary Nixon's letter in the UC Review. She makes good points about the role of SHCA.
I don't think anyone on the list has discussed the stance taken by SHCA zoning committee as stated by UCD Board member Barry Grossbach on Feb. 13; we are going to wait until the lawyers decide. What absolute nonsense! After we finally had an open public forum and the neighborhood voiced massive opposition, the zoning committee is going to wait for a private deal! If Lussenhop cuts a deal, the many community members opposition is irrelevant! And if Lussenhop doesn't force his terms, is SHCA then going to testify to zoning how the community supports the hotel? What does any private deal have to do with the SHCA zoning committee mission statement? What does any private deal have to do with the zoning committee's responsibility to the SHCA membership and the Spruce Hill community? The SHCA zoning committee has been blatantly covering for the lies about public forums. On Feb. 13 in writing and verbally at the public forum, zoning committee chairman, Barry Grossbach, insisted that the incorrect testimony of Oct. 23, 2007 was given in "good faith" That too is bullshit! If false information is given in good faith, the parties retract the information and set things right. When they keep using the false information and make no retraction to the official city commission, they are not acting in good faith. UCD Board member, Barry Grossbach, can berate me and act upset because I point out the false testimony and that's fine. But the developers and the zoning committee have not corrected the false PHC testimony from October 23rd, 2007. UCD Board member, Barry Grossbach, was present at the PHC hearing when the false claims of tremendous community support and "public open forums" were being asserted. SHCA ignored my question about this since the false information was given, they offer excuses for the developers lie, and the zoning committee maintained silence while its name was used to pretend that public, properly announced presentations, had been provided by the developers at SHCA meetings. The Spruce Hill Civic Association and the UCD zoning committee have become a tremendous embarrassment to the community!
