The nationwide attack against tenure, covered in this NYT report, was to
be expected. Fomenting anger against teachers' unions, over the last
decades, was only part of the picture. Our elite servants of corporate
America want public school teachers for the poor and middle class to be
interchangeable, unprotected, low wage workers like walmart employees.
(A large percentage of new teachers already flee the profession long
before they would be granted tenure.)

Race to the bottom. The demand for extreme utilitarianism has been
obvious for a long time in our society. The end of the humanities in
education is meant to be the final nail in the coffin of the Republic.
