You probably saw the DN investigation about the cops yesterday (follow-up below). Don't let this pretended surprise about demanding identification fool you.

The Phila. cops have always passed victims addresses back to the offending cops before marking all complaints unsubstantiated. Civil rights attorneys have known this practice for decades. The systematic harassment and threats against victims, who complain, have been reported in other cases when a tiny minority of the cops are busted by the FBI.

This DN investigation simply corroborates that the gang philosophy of in-group loyalty runs through the entire precinct and is not just the cops on the street watching the "few bad apples" commit crimes against the people.
