After reading this update on medicaid, please remember the celebrations about health care reform. Expansion of medicaid was supposedly a victory for the poor. The right wing ranted about the welfare state and the democrats pretended that they were forced to compromise with these fake minor victories which would be improved in the future. (This was when Rahm called single payer activists "f'ing retards" and the Democrats arrested them for speaking out against being excluded from discussions.)

Note the solution for Medicaid taking hold: States will turn over more management and money to what they are calling managed care. This means that the meager money left for health care will be transferred to health insurance companies to officially deny health care for the poor.

There was no victory for the people with health care reform. It was a bipartisan propaganda performance. The evidence, for tremendous savings in a universal single payer system that recognizes health care as a human right, is overwhelming!!!
