My only real experience with linux has been with Fedora. And so far,
it's been a positive one. I'm sure other distros have lots of goodies
that Fedora lacks. But I've been able to get slimserver running fairly
painlessly on it, and even have delved into more "advanced"
configurations like using mysql as the db back-end. I'm in the process
of building three new computers out of mostly recycled parts and one of
them is going to be a slimserver box for a friend. If you would like,
I could try to document all the steps I take to get the machine
configured and running.

I was actually thinking earlier that it would be a Really Good Idea (tm) if Slim Devices created a section on their website listing on what platforms slimserver has been successfully installed and any hints/tips/gotchas for each platform.
