so i'v been using slimserver for a few months now and have had problems
with new releases now and then, the package that im running now and is
working fine is.
slimserver-5.4.0-1.noarch.rpm
i was running the new release, i configed it and did everything i
needed to do. but when i clicked on songs so they would play it causes
the server to crash.
anyone know what i might have to fix to figure out this problem...
or is it just a mandrake thing... if in that case it is, does anyone
have a mandrake rpm of the new release...
p.s. i know i should probably update my distro.
I use Mandrake 10.1, there are no issues with the standard RPM.
1) urpmi the new rpm.
2) if it won't start at all, "less /tmp/slimserver.log" and look for the
plugins area... you probably have an old plugin that's stopping it from
working. Remove the offending plugin, then "service slimserver start".
3) Web UI > Server Settings, check the "Clear Library before scan"
checkbox and then click Rescan.
4) If you have a lot of songs or a slow machine, go do something else
for a while
5) if it crashes or is still rescanning tomorrow morning, turn on the
Web UI > Server Settings > Debugging > d_scan setting, then "tail -f
/tmp/slimserver.log".
