Thanks for your reply, I deleted /etc/slimserver.conf and ran /etc/init.d/slimserver start. I got the same errors as in my original post, with the addition of: Cannot write to preferences file /etc/slimserver.conf, any changes made will not be preserved for the next startup of the server. Everything else on command line and log is as before. I then ran: touch /etc/slimserver.conf and chmod guo+w /etc/slimserver.conf and reran /etc/init.d/slimserver start the errors are now exactly as in the first post, and the file /etc/slimserver.conf has a single entry in it: securitySecret='some letters and numbers' so I know it's probably not a problem with /etc/slimserver.conf Steve -- steve_uk _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
