I think you have a problem with your Linux. The second call (adjustHTTPPortCallback) is as a result of a a change to the preferences - in that routine it closes the open port if it is open and then re-open the new port. It is odd behaviour possibly a timing issues. I am guessing from your name that you may be using a Thecus N5200 so it is not a standard distro. I've had slimserver running on Windows, SuSe, FSg3 and a Kurto Gentoo system - on all systems, the httport option works.
