Damn, I hate being stupid.

What happens when I copy and paste the URL in synaptic to add the
slimdevices main stable to the repositories, then click "reload", which
is apparently similar to apt-get update, I get a message like this:

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted
because of network problems. If available an older version of the
failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored.
Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository
address in the preferences.

Then it shows me (dummy) that it will use what it has, which is in fact
an Ubuntu repo. : Is that what is is showing me?

http://medibuntu.sos-sts.com/repo/dists/feisty/free/binary-i386/Packages.gz:

http://medibuntu.sos-sts.com/repo/dists/feisty/non-free/binary-i386/Packages.gz:
404 Not Found [IP: 81.169.138.125 80

At any rate the problem appears to be that for some reason I am unable
to get the download from slimdevices.

Can anyone help here, or should I be looking to SD for their official
help?

Thanks for your patience with me.

here are some command replies:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo: /etc/apt/sources.list: command not found

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gedit /etc/apt/sources.list got me this:
