It is actually a bit more straightforward than you are making it. You need either the Mixer or the Server to be running in order to use MIP. Personally I use the Server and interact with it - if needed - via the web browser and using the replacement screen layout built by spicefly (http://spicefly.com/content/view/33/32/). The default installation of MIP assigns it to port 10002 so in the browser you would just point to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:10002/server and you should see the MIP data displayed. This page allows you set up the mix parameters and also to add new music to be scanned.
The only trick with the interaction with SC7 is to ensure that you start MIP before you start SC7 and to then do a clear and rescan of the SC7 database. Of course you need to have the checkbox ticked against Music IP on the SC7 Settings|Plugins page before you do this. Once you are setup like this you should be able to see a small "m" against your track names in both the SC7 web interface and in the SB display. You can create mixes from the SB by selecting a track and then pressing and holding Play for a couple of seconds. You then need to press Play again to start playing the mix that has been generated. It has been flaky for me from time to time over the past couple of years through various flavours of 6.x SlimServer but it seeems to be OK now under recent releases of SC7 and using MIP 1.8 on Ubuntu. davep -- davep ------------------------------------------------------------------------ davep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44005 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
