You only need to make sure that the directories that *you* bring to the party -- namely the music library and the playlists directory -- have the correct permissions. The music library directory (and sub-dirs) should *not* be owned or writable by user squeezecenter, but should be world-readable. The playlists directory needs to be writable by user squeezecenter.
