I have checked the permissions of the invisible files and they're equal to the ones that are visible. So the ownership and/or the permissions have been ruled out as a reason for this problem. Fact is that only the files that were present when SC made it's maiden run are visible, and I'm almost burning my brains to find a reason and a solution for this problem.
