Yes, that should be possible.  However, note that in most people's
experience (including mine) the output from the on-board 3.5mm plug is
quite noisy.  Folks seem to be trying to use a USB DAC to try to make
the output cleaner.  I have not yet gone down that path.  If it helps,
here's the commands I used to get Squeezelite up and running on my RPi:
cd /usr/bin
sudo wget "http://squeezelite.googlecode.com/files/squeezelite-armv6hf"; 
(NOTE: EXCLUDE THE QUOTES.  I added them to disable hyperlinking in my
post)
sudo chmod 755 squeezelite-armv6hf

Then simply run the squeezelite-armv6hf file.  This should get the
Squeezelite working.  To check you can run the command top and see if
there is a squeezelite process running. 
If it is running you should be able to access Squeezelite via the LMS
web interface.
