Where is dwc_otg.speed set? I presume there's a config file somewhere I need to edit. I can try setting it to 1 to see if that makes any difference to behaviour. Thanks for the link. I started reading the thread but it seemed to be mainly a slanging match about problems with keyboards on the Pi.
