Ok, then you will need to do the following:
Edit the file opt/.filetool.lst like:
Sudo vi /opt/.filetool.lst 
And here add this line
Etc/hostname

Save the change. This file filetool.lst is telling microcore Linux that
these files should be save during a backup, so that after a reboot any
change to them will have survived.

Next you change the content of /etc/hostname:
sudo vi /etc/hostname.       And change whatever you would like and
then save the changes.

Next you need to backup your changes:
Sudo filetool.sh -b

And now you can reboot:
Sudo reboot
