I'm having trouble getting my new external DAC to work reliably. When
it does work, it won't stream 192kb files.
I think the issue is to do with PiCorePlayer configuration.
I've been advised to post my thread here.
Perhaps my query has already been covered, but with 188 pages in this
thread, perhaps a new Forum for PiCorePlayer installations is required!
I'm a novice at Linux/Debian, so I'm unable to solve the issue without
assistance.
I hope someone can help me.

Here's the thread I posted elsewhere.
I've tried a few configurations of Squeezelite, but I'm in the dark
about what I should be doing...

I have a Pi running PiCorePlayer v1.16 wirelessly connected to LMS 7.9.0
running on an Odroid with Debian SQLite 1.34.
I also have a HiFiBerry card attached which gives me the ability to play
192kb streams via RCA outputs to the Preamp.

I've now invested in an external DAC (TeddyDAC-USB) to improve the sound
further. This DAC is 192kb capable.
I've configured PiCorePlayer to output to USB only & connected the DAC
via USB. I've left the HiFiBerry physically attached but PiCorePlayer
isn't configured to use it.

The PiCorePlayer settings I used are:
Output settings - sysdefault:CARD=X20
ALSA settings - 80:4::
All other Squeezelite settings are blank. Perhaps this is where the
problem lies, but I'm no expert in this. Educated guesswork so far.
I tried this & it worked for a short while then stopped. I don't
understand the other settings I'd possibly have to use. It sometimes
plays streams, & possibly not HiRes ones.
Under "List available ALSA devices, it shows an option of Output
settings:
sysdefault:CARD=ALSA - bcm2835 ALSA, bcm2835 ALSA - Default Audio
Device
I tried this too, but no joy.

I'm sometimes able to play 192kb streams, but the DAC's HiRes indicator
doesn't light.
I know the stream is HiRes as the SB Controller tells me it's playing at
5010kb VBR & 24/192. It hasn't downsampled as the Pi isn't synced to any
other player.

I just want the Pi to act as a streamer & for the DAC to do everything
else - including dealing with 192kb streams, but the DAC doesn't appear
to recognise a 192kb stream or the HiRes light would be lit.
I imagine Squeezelight configuration is the issue, but a TeddyDAC-USB
isn't in the list of tested USB DACs yet so I don't know which settings
to use.
I haven't upgraded to PiCorePlayer 1.17 as I don't want to screw
everything up.

Please can anyone advise? Let me know if you need more information.

Many thanks.
Paul
