I also experience dropouts when connecting my RPi B+ to my processor by HDMI. It's wired ethernet and I too switched out various cables with no luck. If no solution can be found, I will add a HiFiBerry Digi and use coax to my pre/pro, which has an excellent DAC/analog section.
