Both these work: Max2Play beta is pretty good http://www.max2play.com/download/18906/ and Raspbian-lite or full is also possible (add in Squeezelite to use a player) http://raspberry.gerrelt.nl/ If headless is a bit daunting, then add a monitor and keyboard/mouse.
