Hi Greg, i use my piCorePlayer also in my car as music audio server and my phone for remote control. When i open the door my sound system starts immediately, so if i forget to activate the hotspot function on the phone i have no access to my music files. I think 5sec scan time would be OK.(maybe this possible via cron jobs ??)
