Just because I like to keep things as convoluted and complicated as
possible, I run multiple server instances under Debian, Ubuntu and
whatever Max2Play uses (Raspian?). I have a common favorites.opml for
all of them stored in a common playlists location. I've been able to
create symlinks in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs that point to the
shared file and it works for a while, but for some reason that link is
often overwritten by a new physical file. Since it's not (as far as I
know) possible to change permissions for a link, I can't prevent LMS
from performing the overwrite.

Other than not doing things in such an unnecessarily screwed up way, am
I missing an obvious workaround? I suppose that worst case I could just
schedule a script to delete the file/link and re-create it every hour or
so, but that seems...extreme. I found a thread from back in 2009 saying
that favorites.opml is by default stored in the defined playlists
location, but that appears to no longer be the case.

Suggestions welcome!
