You're right were are fortunate to have so many options. Last night I
tried another one in LibreElec. Where I had exactly the same issue with
a missing speaker. Maybe if you can figure out what both PCP and
LibreElec lack that is fortunately present in Volumio then this might
help to make PCP's USB support a little closer to the universal nirvana.
Though I did note that Volumio seems to be based on Debian Jessie and
it's quite a big beast. So the hunt for the missing jewel might take
some time.

I should mention that I am still using PCP in another instance with a BT
speaker. Where it boots in seconds, works perfectly and is a joy to use.
