Here's a skin override extension for you to try when testing.

It overrides these 2 changed files.  Hopefully, I got the skin name
right.

Obviously your skin is not in jivelite_wqvgaskins.tcz yet, but if it's
installed in $HOME/.jivelite/userpath/applets/QVGA240squareSkin it
should be loaded when jivelite starts.
