The packaged linux installations such as deb and rpm fill will install LMS in predefined standard locations and do checks for dependencies.
Using a tar ball, you can do a manual installation but you may to build some dependent libraries/modules. Once installed you can place LMS directories anywhere using command line options or preferences Code: -------------------- --cachedir => Directory for Logitech Media Server to save cached music and web data --logdir => Specify folder location for log file --prefsdir => Specify the location of the preferences directory -------------------- However when trying to install a new version of LMS (e.g. 7.9.*), you will run into other issues about having to get required Perl modules with the right version which may not be available for a 7 year old Kubuntu system - this could be a lot of extra work if you are not Linux familiar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112030 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
