My guess is that the volume is turned up and the card is killing itself before you can get it started and get the limiter set. Its really a horrible design.
Go to the tweaks page and scroll down to the "Audio Tweaks" Set squeezelite to not start at boot....... then power cycle your system. When it starts ssh in and see what happens when you run alsamixer. Hopefully it starts that way, and you can turn down the "D.Lim thresh" control.....make sure you turn it down to -40db. Then start squeezelite and see if you can get it stable......once things seem stable, then set squeezelite to start at boot. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.
