Hi I'm currently running Logitech Media Server to some Chromecast Audios and Airplay devices from an old windows netbook. It all works fine but I thought a nice project would be to build a PiCoreplayer LMS server, Not expecting any change in the end result of this other than less power consumption and more resilience as the Netbook is ancient and won't last for ever. Please can you experienced people just clear up a couple of things for me that I want to clarify before going shopping.
If I want to store my own music on a HDD will a simple USB caddy be OK with the power required to spin it up coming from the Pi's USB port or do I need an enclosure with its own separate power supply? I did see on this threads that sometimes the usb3 port is not 100% reliable for this. Is there anywhere to buy for not much money a PiCase that could include the HDD, so everything was neatly in a single box rather than having the Pi and separate HDD Caddy Thanks ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Groundsman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70305 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
