My statement is based in part on the fact that the ATI 7000 was sold
for use with Beige G3 machines and newer. It does not work with the
Beige G3 machine!A work around is to remove all ATI drivers in
OSX...which I would think would mean it's not accelerated. Ted
Osborn states in his post that people have gotten it to work
accelerated. I'd like to know how this was done! There are reports at
www.xlr8yourmac.com that some people have gotten beta drivers from
ATI for use with the Beige G3 and this card. So it would seem that
ATI may release replacements for the defective drivers.I'm sorry if
that pushes some peoples buttons. I feel that is correct because the
supplied drivers do not work with the Apple supported in OSX Beige G3
and the first batch of ATI 7000 cards were sold as working with the
Beige G3. ATI must have failed to test the card with the Beige G3 but
if so why did they expect it to work? Drivers for the Beige G3 would
be great because drivers that work with that machine would likely
also work with OLD World Macs/ clones.

I think that would be surprised how many 7000 cards they would sell.
Support or not as long as they work.

As the guy who helped supply clone support to Ryan Rempel for
XPostFacto I can tell you Apple has spend sometime removing Support
for old World Macs. Every issue of OX has made it harder to run OSX
on Older machines.

See your above statement about buying new hardware from Apple ;-)

This is true of the Radeon Mac Edition card no longer being made.
Somehow this support disappeared in the Radeon 700. It seems to have
been done by accident because they sold the card as working with the
Beige G3 but it doesn't. Video in the Beige G3 has more in common
with old World Macs then the new ones. Apple supports the Beige G3.

Why my expecting ATI to provide support as listed on the box of the
ATI 7000 is a flame of the company is beyond my understanding. Since
the ATI Radeon card works I can see no reason why the new card
doesn't. ATI is seems is working on this problem since some people
have gotten beta drivers.
I am sorry that more then one person seems to be offended by
me thinking ATI is missing the boot on this card.I think they will
profit well by fixing the defective driver problem. Will S

A note to ATI letting them know you would like to see drivers for
this card would be more helpful then flaming me!
