I recently tried running XPostFacto on my original PB G3, after reading
that XPostFacto v2.2bx is now compatible. The Kanga has 9.1 on it with
128Mb RAM, and over 15Gb free in the first (of two) HFS+ partitions.
The other partition is CD-ROM sized. I ran the program with an OS X
10.0.3 CD in the built-in CD-ROM drive. In the top pop-up drive I
select the Mac OS X Install CD, and in the bottom I select the hard
drive. When I then hit install button, a dialog comes up "Could not
complete your request because of a program error". I can keep hitting
install, and I keep getting the same message. But then when I reboot
with the CD in, it does try using the OSX CD. I get a Kernel Panic
fairly early on, with the top line saying the 3500 is not a supported
model.

I had originally e-mailed the author directly, but then I found this
list so I'll post here instead to keep his mailbox more clear. My
question is, can I do some sort of install by copying files over
manually to the right places? It seems that XPostFacto is doing
something, perhaps I only need to copy over one or two more files to get
things working OK? Or, is there some sort of manual file copy process I
can do on my own?

Finally, my OS 9.1 isn't exactly a fresh install. Could that make a
difference?
