hello, got a couple of networking questions, 1st being:
i'm trying to make a connection to my w2k pc thats sat on our network (i can happily connect from the pc to my mac - nice!). my understanding was you did apple k and typed smb://servername/sharedItem. so i've been typing: smb://192.168.254.205/c and smb://28webserver/c where the ip is the no of the machine and 28webserver is the name - the entire c: drive is shared on the pc. it no go nowhere!! any ideas??? 2nd is why can my w2k pc see my entire osx partition and my fellow mac users on my network can only get at my drop box? even then, when they copy files into it it gives them a permissions warning? 3rd is how do i share my other drives? i've partitioned the drive down - what i'd really like to do is share my working partition and not share my osx partition (there's nothing for anyone in it that people would want). 4th is (this is getting silly now!) how do i share a firewire drive connected to my machine with other users on the network?? been using osx at home for months - chuck it on at work and suddenly it's a whole new ball park.... cheer people, jake -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
