SCSI devices are terminated, and the ID numbers set to each device. 
While there is an IEE standard, each manufacturer interprets ID 
settings somewhat their own way. You'll need to actually look at the 
label on the HD and identify the make and model number. The odds are 
you can find the information you need on the internet.

Most manufacturers still archive their old discontinued drive SCSI ID 
termination information. I've been able to look up information for long 
discontinued Seagate and Quantum drives on  MFR's web sites.

You'll just have to do some digging. Apple set their CD drives to SCSI 
ID 3, and usually the CD was terminated.
