I had to do the same thing. The VGA port on the Radeons is so close 
to the bottom of the bracket that there is not enough clearance to 
attach a standard VGA cable to the port. One needs to shave away some 
of the plastic of the 8500 case to allow a VGA cable to attach to the 
port.

I used a Dremel to hack away a small chunk. While it is not visually 
pretty, if done correctly it will not affect the integrity of the 
case.
