Not to be picky, but is probably the drivers, not the actual SCSI protocol used. The internal SCSI bus uses the "MESH" chip. The external bus uses a NCR chip. >I'm happy to be rock solid now, Good to hear. >but I read that the external bus is half the >speed of the internal, so I'd really like to get back to the internal. Yes, the external bus is slower, if I remember, 1/2 the speed (5 MB/sec) of the internal bus (10 MB/sec). If your drive is only capable of 3 MB/sec, it may not matter much ;) >I downloaded >the current CHUD utility to try and measure my drives, and it says Disk >Banger has been withdrawn from CHUD because it produced highly unreliable >results with certain combinations of hardware! Very interesting. If you are interested in the differences between the busses, why not measure in OS 9? LaCie has a utility called TimeDrive. If you download the SilverLining 6.4.5a updater, <http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/index.cfm> After you get by the readme and license, choose custom install, then click on the triangle to expand the "LaCie Utilities" heading. Only check TimeDrive. I would measure the same exact drive connected to one bus, then the other, if I had time. -- Charles Dostale [EMAIL PROTECTED] System Administrator, Silver Oaks Communications http://www.silveroaks.com 824 17th Street, Moline IL USA 61265 309-797-9898 -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
